I’m a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 10 years of experience in behavioral health, including direct clinical practice and leadership of an integrated mental health and substance use treatment program.
My approach to therapy is open, conversational, and collaborative. Rather than assuming one approach will work for everyone, I work with clients to understand their individual needs, experiences, and goals and determine which therapeutic approaches may be most helpful. My work is grounded in person-centered care, empathy, and Motivational Interviewing, with additional training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Recovery Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or “tapping”).
Over time, my education has expanded beyond traditional psychotherapy into nutritional and integrative approaches to mental health. This training has strengthened my interest in the relationship between physical and mental well-being—including the ways movement, nutrition, sleep, stress, and other aspects of physical health can influence how we feel and function.
That same philosophy led me to become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and pursue additional training in yoga and mind-body practices. I don't see mental and physical wellness as separate systems; understanding both allows me to bring a broader, whole-person perspective to my work.
I have also completed Professional Skills Training Levels 1 and 2 in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) through the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology and am currently completing the additional practice and consultation requirements toward certification. EFT uses gentle tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on thoughts, emotions, or experiences, and offering another way to incorporate the mind-body connection into therapeutic work.
I continue to deepen my training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and nervous-system-informed approaches, including Polyvagal Theory, which offers a framework for understanding how our nervous system responds to experiences of safety, stress, and threat.
Much of my clinical career has been spent in community mental health and substance use treatment, where I have had the privilege of working with people with a wide range of diagnoses, experiences, and definitions of recovery. My work with substance use is grounded in harm reduction and self-determination. I believe people have the right to identify their own goals and define what progress, wellness, and recovery mean for them.
